Huh? Why a subscription for art?

Inspired by the idea of community supported agriculture for local farmers and the tradition of art subscriptions by Old Masters Rembrandt and Goya, I’m offering a subscription to my artwork for 2011. Similar to wine futures, PRINT!subscription 2011 allows me to offer you my work at below-market prices because you are buying it sight unseen.  Once finished, these same works would sell for three to four times the monthly subscription price.  Because your subscription helps to cover my overhead costs, I’m able to pass along the savings directly to you!

How does it work?

Select the PRINT!subscription you’d like to join or give as a gift: PRINT!kids, PRINT!eats, or  PRINT!studio and  monthly, bi-monthly or  quarterly, respectively,  you’ll receive a new, original print in the mail!  Each piece will handprinted, signed and numbered by the artist.

After receiving your print, return to this blog and check out photos of the month’s print as a work in progress. I’ll discuss the inspiration, concept and technique behind the piece. It will be a window into the creative process, and a unique way to share in a year in the artist’s studio.  The theme and concept of each print will vary based on the subscription; you can expect to receive art in a variety of techniques, from etching to woodcut to monotype.
